Taco Seasoning

Taco Seasoning

One batch replaces dozens of those little packets — and you'll never go back once you taste the difference.

Time: 5 minutes  ·  Yield: About 60 g (¼ cup) — enough for 2-3 batches of taco meat

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp chili powder
  • 1 Tbsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp fine sea salt
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper (adjust for heat)
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Method

  1. Whisk everything together in a bowl. Transfer to a small jar.
  2. **To use:** Add 2-3 tablespoons per 450 g (1 lb) of ground meat along with 80 ml (⅓ cup) water. Cook until the water evaporates and the meat is coated.
  3. *Storage:** Airtight container in your spice drawer for up to 6 months.
