Spring Elderflower Spritz
Light, floral, barely there — this is the drink that opens the patio season. Elderflower liqueur carries the perfume of early summer hedgerows, and Prosecco gives it lift. It's the kind of drink you sip slowly in afternoon light while pretending you're in an Italian garden. Low effort, high elegance
Time: 3 minutes · Yield: 1 cocktail
Ingredients
- ●2 oz (60 ml) Prosecco, well chilled
- ●1½ oz (45 ml) elderflower liqueur (St-Germain)
- ●1 oz (30 ml) club soda
- ●½ oz (15 ml) fresh lemon juice
- ●Ice
- ●Lemon wheel and a sprig of fresh mint or edible flowers, for garnish
Method
- **Build over ice.** Fill a large wine glass or spritz glass with ice.
- **Pour.** Add the elderflower liqueur and lemon juice.
- **Top** with Prosecco and club soda. Stir once, very gently — you want to preserve the bubbles.
- **Garnish** with a lemon wheel and mint sprig or edible flowers (violets, nasturtiums, or chamomile blossoms work beautifully).
- *Variations:**
- **Aperol Elderflower Spritz:** Add 1 oz Aperol for color and bitterness.
- **Lavender Elderflower Spritz:** Replace the lemon juice with ½ oz lavender syrup.
- **Non-sparkling version:** Replace Prosecco with 2 oz dry white wine. Add extra soda to compensate.
- *Storage:** Serve immediately. No component benefits from sitting.
